Well, after what's been nearly 24 hours or transit time, I am finally sitting still in a hotel room in Kamata, a subsection of Tokyo. I kind of want to go out and explore, because there's a lot going on out there and I have to leave early in the morning again for the final leg of travel to get down to Nagasaki, but I'm also pretty tired. But I did want to mention that I had hoped to get pictures of airports and various stops along the way, and some good photos for the kids of Boeing 747s parked or taxiing for the kids to see, but I didn't bother charging my phone much because I didn't realize that the non-phone-camera I brought won't hold a charge for very long even when it's not on. Oh well, I'm sure there will be exciting photos in the upcoming year.
It was a difficult departure for me. It was really hard to put the kids to bed (especially Jude) on Friday night knowing that I wouldn't be there when he got up. I thought I got most of the emotion out wen I put him down to bed but I could tell I was still sensitive when I started getting teary-eyed at the emotionally climactic parts of ALL of the in-flight movies I was watching, such as The Bourne Legacy, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and The Simpsons (the Movie).
While I'm on the subject of in-flight movies, I would like to comment that Delta has an alarming number of movies to choose from that are about assassins. I think there's some subliminal message there, but I'm not sure what yet.
As a final note, I hope that future posts will be wittier, but my brain's too tired tonight! I just wanted to make sure I got this blog started ASAP! And I will be certain to have entertaining pictures as often as possible. The camera's charging right now, so if I get enough of a burst of energy to venture out tonight at all, I'll snap a few quick pics.
Soo happy you arrived safely, and so looking forward to reading about your adventures. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Hillary! Sorry it took me so long to reply to your comment...I'm still sort of feeling Blogger out, trying to figure out all the features and functions. :)
